Dear Editor:
The world is on high alert with tensions between the US and Russia over Syria at boiling point. If North Korea’s nuclear ambitions are considered then an all-out war could be on the cards. In that case who would win if World War III broke out? This was questioned by the Daily Sun of UK. Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin are engaged in a war of words over the ongoing atrocities in Syria. Will there be a World War Three? Since the world comes under fire from terror attacks, escalating hostility between Russia and the US, and conflict in Ukraine, so a full-blown war could be more likely than ever.
On February 2, 2019 Vladimir Putin followed President Trump’s lead by vowing to withdraw from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces treaty (INF) within six months after Trump accused him of breaking the agreement. Announcing the plans, Putin threw shade at Donald Trump – suggesting he is too “immature” for meaningful talks.
Earlier on February 1, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced the U.S. was suspending pulling out of a 32-year Cold War-era nuclear missile pact, the INF.
In November 29, 2018 Russia threatened to resume air strikes in Syria against “Islamist insurgents” as it looks as if a ceasefire deal with Turkey is about to collapse. On November 25 Russia captured three Ukranian naval vessels and 23 crew members which were sailing off the coast of Crimea.
On June 7, 2018 Vladimir Putin said WW3 would lead to the “end of civilisation”. He said the US should stop imposing its own rules on other countries and avoid upsetting the strategic nuclear balance to avoid this.
On May 24, 2018 Donald Trump cancelled a planned summit with Kim Jong-un, saying North Korea’s leader showed “tremendous anger and open hostility”. It comes after one of Kim’s ministers called vice-president Mike Pence “ignorant and stupid” for comparing the state to Libya.
On April 21, 2018 North Korea said it suspended long-range missile tests and plans to shut its nuclear test site, a day before Kim is due to meet his South Korean counterpart Moon Jae-in. US President Donald Trump welcomed the news saying it was a sign of “progress being made for all”.
On April 16, Kim Jong-un raged that Britain was moving Navy ships close to North Korean waters which was “nothing short of an act of war”.
On March 13, after the poisoning of former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter, Prime Minister Theresa May threatened to implement a range of possible reprisals against Russia.
Referring to the Holiday, October 20, 2018, Sayed Riyad Rahman wrote with reference to Sir Frank Peters’ observation in October last about the grim possibility of World War III. Indeed, anyone who detests violence of any kind and regards war as an exercise in ignorance and stupidity would feel the same.
“North Korea has the capability of destroying the three-million square miles of the USA in 42 minutes 42 seconds precisely, “said Dr. Moosa bin Shamsher.
“North Korea has the capability of destroying the three-million square miles of the USA in 42 minutes 42 seconds precisely. Major cities across the United States would be wiped out quicker than you can say Trump Tower,” claims Dr. Moosa. “That kind of power is unprecedented in history and terrifying, but even more frightening is the fact Kim Jong-Un has it and, if provoked, would use it,” he said.
In his plain spoken communication, Shamsher urged and pleaded with the President to change his attitude. He fears if the present situation is mishandled, it could trigger World War III and doomsday for America.
