Local theatre troupe Mad Theatre staged its popular play Naddiu Natim at Selim Al Deen Muktomoncho of Jahangirnagar University on Monday as part of the ongoing Bongo Milon Nattya Utsab at the campus. Based on late novelist Humayun Ahmed’s novel Ke Kotha Koy, the play has been adapted and directed by Asadul Islam.
The play revolves around a physically-disabled child named Komol and her home tutor named Matin.
As the play moves forward, Matin falls for Komol, who asks Matin to prove his devotion to her by committing suicide. The play ends with Matin taking his own life.
Kolkata-based theatre troupe Pragya Cultural Centre staged Nine Miles To Go at Selim Al Deen Muktomoncho on Tuesday.
Nine Miles To Go has been written by Ujjwal Chattopadhyay and directed by Jayasree Bhattacharya.
The play revolves around the life and works of Indian Bengali revolutionary Jatindranath Mukherjee, also known as Bagha Jatin, who fought against the British rule.
The play gives the audience a glimpse into how Bagha Jathin formed Jugantar Party and trained its members.
Suman Saha played Jatindranath Mukherjee while Samrat Roy, Argha Roy, Soumya Bhattacharjee, Shinjanbasu, Tanmoy Karmocar, Madhusudan Chatterjee, Arnab Mukhrejee, Aaishik Thakur and others played different roles in the play.
Bongo Milon Nattya Utsab has been organised by Jahangirnagar Theatre (Auditorium). The festival is featuring eight plays by local and Indian troupes.
