Group photo show on Rohingya begins in Canada

A five-day group photography exhibition featuring works by seven Bangladeshi photojournalists is under way in Toronto, Canada.
The exhibition titled ‘Save Rohingya’ displays 30 photographs featuring plight of some 7,40,000 Rohingyas, who fled after a crackdown by Myanmar’s military in 2017 in Rakhine state and are living in camps in Bangladesh.
The event, jointly organised by Canada National Ethnic Media and Press Council, BAN-CAN Youth Organisation and Canada and IEB Canada Overseas Chapter, aims to raise awareness about Rohingya repatriation.
Bangladeshi photojournalists Fojit Sheikh Babu (Alokito Bangladesh), Md Saurav (New Age), Anwar Hossain Joy (The Daily Jugantor), Harunur Rashid (The Daily Desh Rupantor), Abdullah Al Momin (bdnews24.com), Fazle Elahi Omar (The Daily Bonikbarta) and Rehana Akther (The Daily Ittefaq) have participated in the exhibition, which commenced on August 19 at Metro Hall, Toronto.
Thomas S Saras, president and CEO of National Ethnic Press and Media Council, inaugurated the exhibition as the chief guest. The inaugural ceremony also featured a discussion and documentary screening.
The exhibition will continue till August 23.
