The celebrated singer will receive a gold medal and a cheque of Tk 1,00,000 from Dhaka University’s vice chancellor MdAkhteruzzaman on August 4 at a program scheduled to be held at Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university. ‘I am really happy to receive an award named after Feroza Begum, who had dedicated her life to establishing Nazrul songs as a separate genre. I want to thank the selection committee for choosing me for the award,’ Farida Parvin said.
Sponsored by ACI Foundation, Dhaka University introduced the medal in 2016 named after the legendary NazrulSangeet singer Feroza Begum to honor a nationally recognized music artiste every year. In addition, a student of BA (honors) from music department of University of Dhaka with highest CGPA will also receive Feroza Begum Memorial Gold Medal at the university’s convocation ceremony.
Internationally acclaimed singers Sabina Yasmin, Rezwana Choudhury Bannya and Runa Laila received Feroza Begum Memorial Gold Medal respectively in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
