Huawei Mate 20 Pro has exceptionally powerful, intelligent features

Here is an evening scene shot with Huawei Mate 20 Pro, though low light photography can be very challenging.

HUAWEI Mate 20 Pro has plenty of premium features like an in-screen fingerprint reader, large high-resolution display, and long battery life. Its triple-camera boldly positions Huawei as a design leader. Huawei is one of the biggest brands in smartphones. The industry-leading 7nm process technology of Kirin 980 generates direct performance upgrade of speed improvement and power efficiency. It’s very well built, evidenced by its IP68 waterproofing rating, but there is one, slightly confusing quality issue. The glass on the front isn’t very robust.
The Mate 20 Pro is worth the premium for its record-setting battery and extremely fast charging alone. There is no such thing as the perfect smartphone, but the Mate 20 Pro is arguably close to perfect. It is unmatched in camera versatility, and on top of that it has every premium feature imaginable, like the ability to wirelessly charge other phones. Though Mate 20 Pro is pricey —- but the 40 W5 HUAWEI SuperCharge with TÜV Safe Fast-Charge System Certification makes HUAWEI Mate 20 Pro powerful mate to trust. In 30 minutes, users can refuel the battery up to 70%.
The Mate 20 Pro charges incredibly fast with the 40W charger included in the box. Huawei says its goes from zero to 70 percent in 30 minutes.
Higher intelligence
It’s very well built, evidenced by its IP68 waterproofing rating, but there is one, slightly confusing quality issue. The glass on the front isn’t very robust. There’s one 40-megapixel sensor, one 20MP sensor and one 8MP camera with up to 3x optical zoom. Only, on the P20 Pro, the 20MP camera is monochrome. Its primary function is capturing light information and using that data to improve full-color images, though it will also take native (unfiltered) black-and-white images. On the Mate 20 Pro, this has been swapped out for a color, ultra-wide 20MP sensor that vastly increases field-of-view compared with the main, 40MP camera. Also, perhaps counterintuitively, it’s great for extreme close-up, macro shots.

Limitless human imagination;—that’s the inspiration for the HUAWEI Mate 20 Pro. The breakthroughs in technology will blur the lines between dream and rerality. The Kirin 980 is an octa-core chip built on the state-of-the-art 7-nanometer manufacturing process, which packs transistors closer together, resulting in better performance and smaller power consumption compared to older processes. The Mate 20 Pro is the first phone on the market to support 15W wireless charging.
Ultimate speed
HUAWEI Mate 20 Pro is the world’s first 1.4 Gbps3 LTE Cat.21 smartphone which supports up to 1733 Mbps3 WiFi download speeds. By leveraging L1&L5 dual frequency simultaneously, HUAWEI Mate 20 Pro allows users to always find the destination with great accuracy even in city centres surrounded by skyscrapers or highway interchanges.
Enduring power is always the symbol of the Mate series. A larger 4200 mAh4 battery with smarter AI power management fuels user’s daily work and entertainment needs.
Huawei’s control over the processor allowed it to focus heavily on AI. The Kirin 980 has two neural processing units (NPUs) designed for real-time photo manipulation, live translation, and other AI-reliant tasks. AI is used in multiple areas of the Mate 20 Pro, but most users will only interact with the AI imaging features.
Huawei’s implementation works very well and it’s definitely a step up over the Vivo X21, which I reviewed back in May. The phone unlocks very fast, though it’s still not as fast as some conventional fingerprint readers.
Leica triple camera
Three lenses: a wide 40-megapixel f/1.8, an ultra-wide 20-megapixel f/2.2, and an 8-megapixel f/2.4 telephoto. The last one offers 3x optical zoom which is surprisingly clear despite minor shakes. Its impressively versatile camera that allows to shoot everything from macro details to sweeping scenery. An iconic square combining Leica Triple Camera and one flash inherits the Mate series’ central and simple camera design concept to create an aesthetic signature. See through the window, explore the world.
Mate 20 Pro features three cameras on the back: a primary 40MP one with f/1.8 aperture; a telephoto 8MP with f/2.4 aperture and OIS; and a 20MP ultra-wide with f/2.2 aperture. On the front, there’s a single 24MP camera. It has a highly versatile camera system that lets you shoot everything from macro details to long-distance, zoomed-in scenery. It can be great in skilled hands, but can also turn out some mediocre shots if you just shoot in auto.
The new Leica Triple Camera powered by AI reveals life’s drama, texture, colour and beauty in every photograph that will take your breath away.
Designed for different scenarios, the 40 MP main RGB lens captures great details in everyday photos, while the 8 MP telephoto lens will focus on your distant shots and the whole new 20 MP Leica Ultra Wide Angle Lens is perfect for the landscape photos and macro shots.
With the Leica Ultra Wide Angle Lens, capture an imposingly wide perspective even from the confines of tight spaces.
Capture details and surprises you couldn’t before. The Leica Ultra Wide Angle Lens takes extreme close-up shots from 2.5 cm. Discover the world from a new perspective.
Capture the night
Powered by advanced AI Image Stabilisation, the Night mode will shoot blur-free and focused handheld photos in low-light. It also balances high-contrast scenes to present incredible images in every setting.
Recognizing more than 1500 scenarios and 25 categories, the upgraded AI-powered photography now can segment different objects and scenes in one photo. Colours, brightness and contrast are adjusted automatically and precisely, just like fine-painting a photo, with perfect balance.
AI cinematography 3D
A leap in accuracy and security. Thanks to the 3D Depth Sensing Camera projecting over 30000 points, HUAWEI Mate 20 Pro recognises you easily to unlock your phone swiftly. Your face ID can also be used to securely access a private screen containing locked APPs and personal data.
It is perhaps the most desireable phone on the market right now.
Advanced and flexible CPU and GPU multi-core architecture, task and operation speed make it a big flagship device. Being able to last more than a day makes it a killer device. The EMUI does take away a very few points. In most cases it goes neck and neck or beyond other competing flagships.
Huawei is confident that its brand-new Kirin 980 chip will outperform Apple’s A12 Bionic chip, and its benchmarks are impressive. The Kirin 980 is the second 7nm processor released for phones (after the A12), and that smaller size may provide more efficiency, if not better performance.
The chip takes a more nuanced approach to the latter. It has eight cores, just as many as the Kirin 970, but instead of an even split between high- and low-power, the Kirin 980 has four low-power, two medium and two high-power cores. In theory, this lets the phone spin up more combinations of cores to increase its efficiency.
In a Geekbench 4 test, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro had a multi-core score of 9,792, outstripping the Samsung Note 9 by nearly a thousand, yet still sliding below the 11,000-plus points of the iPhone XS. —Internet
